N.W, across the parking lot from the Bank of Montreal.)

If you are interested in learning about the Family Presence Campaign and how you can get involved, why not join us for a chat over coffee?

“I usually visited mom on Wednesday evenings by myself, after work.  Different staff every time, still getting to know people since mom moved from ‘first available bed -100 km away’ to a facility closer to home. Mom had been there only a month.”  Read more about one family’s suggestions about how staff, physicians and leaders  in continuing care work can improve family presence practices …”  Click here to read more

Family Presence Campaign Underway

The Family Presence Campaign officially began on January 7th, which saw a patient/family advisor, founder of this initiative, meeting with individuals in Edmonton. Below are three tweets that highlight some aspects of launch day.

The Family Presence Initiative, a project associated with ChangeDay AB. is ahead of schedule.  If all goes as planned, the official launch date will be in early January 2016.  In addition to having an online presence, an individual involved with this initiative, will be holding coffee meetings throughout Alberta. Volunteers Needed

Did you know that people who do charity work and volunteer in other ways may be benefiting in terms of better health?  In a recent study, it was found that volunteers were 30% more likely to receive flu shots,  47% more likely to receive cholesterol tests, and  spent 38% fewer nights in the hospital.  http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0277953615302495

If you are looking to do more volunteer work this year, live near the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, enjoy meeting new people and assisting them as they navigate their way through a hospital setting, you may be interested in becoming a Wayfinding Ambassador.  Other volunteer opportunities at PLC are also available here.
